| Modern Spain is home to a host of cultures, like Celts, Iberians, Romans, Alans, Vandals, Visigoths, and Moors. Spain's geographical location and its mountainous terrain, has made the region experience a combination of different types of climate. The climate of Spain can be, thus, divided in three zones:
The moderate Continental climate of the Peninsula, like in Madrid.
The Mediterranean climate region extending from the Andalusian plain along the southern and eastern coasts till the Pyrenees, like in Barcelona.
An Oceanic climate around the coastal zone by the Bay of Biscay, as in Bilbao. This region is known as Green Spain.
