Malta International Airport (MLA)

Malta is a small island nation situated in the southern part of Europe. The country is not very strong economically and the transport network in Malta is not well developed. However the country is well connected with rest of the world by airlines. Malta International Airport (MLA) is the only airport in Malta where domestic and international airlines operate regular scheduled flights. Malta International Airport is situated at a distance of eight kilometers from Valletta, the capital and largest city in Malta. The airport is located between Luqa and Gudja. The airport has been established on an area that once belonged to the former RAF Luqa and that is why the airport is also called as Luqa Airport by local people and as situated near the capital city Valletta, it is also recognized as Valletta Airport internationally. The airport became fully operational on March 25, 1992 and now it is the hub for Air Malta, the only domestic airline of Malta. The airport is under the direct control of Malta International Airport plc, a public limited company. Apart from serving various international airlines, Malta International Airport also hosts annual aviation show like Malta Air show where military and civil aircrafts from different European countries participate.,

Getting to Malta International Airport (MLA) is very simple. Many buses and taxis are available from different parts of Valletta that take people to the airport within a very short time. Though not a big airport in size, Malta International Airport (MLA) offers different services to its passengers that include currency exchange center, post office, telecommunication center, restaurants, coffee shops, luggage desk.
